I’m gaga for Meiji’s Gummy Choco, which are little gummi beans of various natural fruit flavors covered in milk and flavored white chocolate. But I’ve also wondered what it’d be like to just eat the gummi centers.
The gummi jellybean centers are called Poifull and are rather harder to find in the United States.
I picked up a few boxes via JBox.com and then ended up finding some more at Nijiya Market in Little Tokyo a few weeks later. The flavors vary from time to time. ...

Aldi sells charming chocolates at ridiculously affordable prices. My mother sent me this box of Milk Chocolate Fine Truffles. I reviewed the dark version last year.
These come in a blue hexagonal box (photo here).
These are sold around Christmas, but I thought the packaging was more appropriate for Easter.

The new LifeSavers Gummies Bunnies & Eggs are charming little Easter themed gummis that come in five different shapes and six different flavors.
The bag has the old LifeSavers logo and design elements to it (the rolls are rather different these days). It also features the bug-eyed bunny that appears on the Jelly Beans.
The flavors are Lemon, Apple, Orange, Tangy Cherry, Tangy Punch and Watermelon. ...

Before Tart n Tiny were discontinued I had a whole box of them and dumped them out so I could play with them.
I would love to see Nestle bring back Tart n Tiny, if only seasonally.

Sometimes I buy nice things and eat them. These are BonBonBar nougats.
Nougat, candied ginger and dark chocolate. Glossy, chewy and tasty.

The new Wonka Exceptionals Domed Dark Chocolate pieces are No. 3 velvety dark chocolate with milk chocolate medallions.
They’re the third item in the new launch of the better quality Wonka chocolate products hitting store shelves now. The ingredients are all natural, the packaging revamped and the quality vastly improved.
Now that I’ve tried all three varieties I can say that they’re right, the quality of the chocolate is much better. The chocolate is smoother, has a bolder flavor ...

Goumas is an Ohio candymaker. They create local favorites like Buckeyes as well as classics like caramels and toffees made with fresh nuts.
The mint meltaways, even though they’d traveled all the way across the country were glossy and pristine.
Every city should have their own candy store that caters to the local’s taste.

Wonka SweeTarts Jelly Beans are perfectly lovely.
SweeTarts Jelly Beans changed this year. They’re much more vibrant than the original version I tried two years ago.

The new line of Wonka Exceptionals are better quality chocolate candies. Nestle calls them The world’s most incomparably imaginative chocolate. The initial launch includes three chocolate products and to increase consumer interest a Golden Ticket giveaway for 5 trips around the world valued at $40,000 (that’s 5 different prizes, not 5 circumnavigations for one person).
Since the products are just being rolled out, they may not be on shelves everywhere yet. I found the Wonka Exceptionals Chocolate ...

Huge pecans, freshly made marshmallows and caramel bits all covered in dark chocolate.
Charles Chocolates makes a mean Rocky Road bar. (Package here.)
On my last trip to the Bay Area I made a point to stop in at Charles Chocolates. I didn’t realize that would be the last time I’d visit the Emeryville location, as they’ve now moved to a new storefront in San Francisco Centre. Well, now I have another excuse to visit next time I’m in San Francisco. ...

At a CVS in Hollywood last week I spotted an exceptionally odd Marshmallow Pop among the Easter candy. It was blue and kind of the flounder version of some sort of plush animal - the face was all on one side of the profile. I thought it was a manufacturing mistake - I took a photo of it and made fun of it ...

When I started Candy Blog about five years ago I imagined it was going to be one of the many blogs I wrote and ran, all would fall under my unique domain called Typetive. Typetive is a word I coined that basically means talkative, only with a keyboard. I’d been keeping a blog since 2001 called Fast Fiction about my National Novel Writing Month exploits but I have so many other obessions. So I thought I’d have one for whalewatching, one for my novel writing & process, one ...

Nestle has wisely decided to up their support for the Wonka brand.
The Wonka brand of candies was launched shortly after the release of the 1971 movie Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. They were originally made by Sunline but Nestle bought up Sunline (also the maker of SweeTarts and Pixy Stix) in 1988. At that time the Wonka brand consisted of a combination of candies mentioned in the book, such as Everlasting Gobstoppers but ...

It’s a dream of some folks to have giant versions of their favorites. I found these Sour Super Gummi Bears. They’re about twice the height of a regular gummi bear, as you can see, pretty huge. (More flat though than three dimensional like other gummis.)
I bought these online last month but when they arrived I was a little disappointed and decided not to review them. They’re not bad, but there are three versions - cherry-orange, cherry-pineapple and lemon-lime. The fact that I don’t ...

You can consider this a mini-review of the Klik Double Crunch bar from Israel. It’s a milk chocolate coated cereal bar with nougat and almonds. (Package photo here.)
What it felt like to me was a mass of loosely packed crunchy cereal spheres lightly coated with a nougatine/cream and then covered with milk chocolate.
The effect is that the crunch has powerful grain taste to it, but it’s not overly sweet. It’s a little nutty, more on the hazelnut ...

Drug stores are clever, they put huge bins of tasty candy on sale and right next to the line at the registers. I couldn’t resist picking up a bag of Cadbury Mini Eggs.

Easter is the season for foil wrapper chocolate, probably more than Christmas. So I thought I’d include these Florida Tropic Milk Chocolate Balls here now.
I have three varieties, which are all small foil-wrapped milk chocolate balls in a fruit flavor. Key Lime, Raspberry and Orange. The flavors are familiar to those who have had the Florida Tropic Oranges (which come in far more flavors).
The little stand up bags are nicely formatted, cleanly designed and compact. ...

Whitman’s is out of the box this Easter. Until I spotted these little Marshmallow Egg covered in Easter Pastelle I didn’t know that Whitman’s didn’t make anything but boxed chocolates.
Whitman’s is now owned by Russell Stover’s, so it isn’t surprising that they might move into the single serving items and it makes more sense that if they did, it wouldn’t be with an item identical to a Russell Stover product. The new line seems to be all “Easter Pastelle” covered marshmallows.
The eggs were ...

A building kit made from compressed dextrose. The little jar was kind of like a Play-Doh tub but held actual non-toxic toys you can eat.
They were very dense, crunchy and kind of hard to bite. But left sitting out they did really well. Yellow was banana, like the old Wacky Packs. The top of the little package was a roof that can go on top of the little house.

The new Lemonhead & Friends Jelly Beans stand out on the shelves among all the other Easter candies. The bright primary colors - mostly yellow and red are definitely spring-ish but not the usual pastels.
The small bag is jam packed with candy. It’s 14 ounces of little jelly beans made with real fruit juice. Most other bags on the same shelf were about 9 ounces.
This new version of the popular Lemonhead candy is rather similar to the new ...

Peeps Dark Chocolate Covered Marshmallow is pretty much the biggest thing to happen to Peeps. Oh sure, they’ve dabbled with cocoa flavored Peeps or maybe put them inside a chocolate shell, but an actual chocolate dipped Peep made by Just Born is pretty revolutionary.
First thing, they’re singles and they’re individually wrapped. Other Peeps are sold in trays with more than one serving. So each one will be fresh and ready to eat. ...
